Web Designer/Developer

VocisTech is looking for a Web Designer/Developer that will work individually and in a collaborative team-focused environment assisting with design and development of websites supporting the government. Provide web development and technical support to our customer through the maintenance of multiple websites and back-end systems.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop websites, applications and solutions that may require customization
  • Develop and enhance responsive, standards-compliant themes for WordPress
  • Apply industry best practices in website development and design standards
  • Evaluate designs, and wireframes
  • Conduct cross-browser and cross-device testing to ensure consistent display across major supported browsers on Mac, PC, iOS, and Android
  • Prototype functionality for internal and client review
  • Ensure all themes and plugins are up-to-date and apply timely security updates as needed
  • Monitor website performance and identify and implement performance improvements
  • Establish and maintain the development and production web environments
  • Connect third-party APIs to internally developed web applications
  • Involved in all aspects of the website development life-cycle Ideation, Development, QA, Documentation, Implementation, Testing and Integration

 

Required skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science and 12+ years’ experience. Additional experience in lieu of degree.
  • Proficient understanding of:
    • Web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
    • PHP
    • JavaScript, JQuery
    • WordPress and/or Drupal
  • Experience with Responsive Web Frameworks such as Bootstrap
  • Knowledge and experience with 508 accessibility compliance testing, tools, and standards
  • Good understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and methods to work around them
  • Expert level experience with Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Animate, etc.) for image modification, vector graphics, newsletters, and logo design
  • Ability to translate and create concepts into dynamic visual content while adhering to style guides
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word and PowerPoint)
  • Experience working in Windows and Mac environments
